Distribution for a convenience store chain means multiple small quantity deliveries. Our challenge is to ensure low cost and fast deliveries of fresh merchandise on a store by store basis. We understand that a successful distribution is important to the success of the company as a whole. Since the establishment of the company, we focused our efforts on this complex network of distribution. Since 1997, we modernized our distribution system to make it the most sophisticated in the convenience store industry today. Indeed, our commitment to modernization makes us industry leaders. Now we can boast a complete climate controlled (refrigerated and heated) environment. These changes took affect in Kushiro (1997), in Asahikawa(1998), Hakodate and Wakkanai(1999). In April 2001, the Sapporo distribution center saw completion. Now six major cities in Hokkaido act as distribution hubs so that the entire network of stores in Hokkaido stock low price ultra fresh food. |

We forecast that customers will rely even more on quality goods and lower prices as the industry expands into even more areas of social life. Seicomart is equipped for this challenge. We will utilize these distribution bases to their full potential. The company also has designs to purchase bulk quantities of goods directly from manufacturers in Japan and from abroad. These bulk purchases are only made possible with a company infrastructure that has temperature-controlled containers and pallets in place. A bonded storage facility is also a necessity--our facility in Tomakomai is already providing us with this service. Seicomart is proud to have a distribution center that creates profit as well as takes the burden off the operations at the retail outlets.
